Are You Suffering From Dry Eyes?

Meibomian Gland Loss might be the cause! Book and appointment with us and we can help you determine the next steps.

Understanding dry eye will help you determine the best treatment option. Dry eye occurs when a person doesn’t have enough quality tears to lubricate and nourish the eye. Tears reduce eye infections, wash away foreign matter, and keep the eye’s surface smooth and clear. People with dry eyes either do not produce enough tears or their tears are poor quality. It’s a common and often chronic problem, especially in older adults.

The watery eyes symptom may seem confusing. But it’s a common aspect of dry eye. It happens when your meibomian glands aren’t making enough oils for the outer layer of your tear film. So, the middle, watery layer of your tear film evaporates too quickly.

At Eyedeal Eyecare, we believe effective dry eye treatment begins with identifying the underlying cause, not simply managing symptoms. We screen every patient for ocular surface disease as part of their comprehensive eye examination at no additional charge. Using advanced diagnostic technology, including meibography, we can evaluate the oil-producing glands in your eyelids and identify changes that may contribute to dry eye.  Early detection is important because damage to these glands can become permanent.

Depending on your individual needs, treatment options may include:
•  In-office thermal therapy: Gentle heat and massage to help improve the flow of natural oils from the eyelid glands.
•  Deep eyelid cleansing (ZEST): A specialized treatment that removes debris and buildup along the eyelid margins.
•  Punctal plugs: Tiny inserts that help retain your natural tears on the surface of your eyes.
•  Personalized home care: Guidance on eyelid hygiene, daily habits, and other measures to help manage your condition between visits.

Our goal is to address the underlying causes of dry eye, improve comfort, and help maintain healthier eyes over time.
